Hi, my name is June and I'm seventeen. I'm a little older than you where when you got pregnant and may I say, you are a very extraordinary person that has taken what life has thrown your way and totally rolled with it. If I had gotten pregnant at sixteen I literally would have flipped out way more than you did but I guess in the end every thing turned out for the best. You and Bleeker, Vanessa and the baby, it all just came together. I think it is very honorable of you to make the decision not to get an abortion and to carry the baby to term. Personally I would have done the same exact thing but maybe, just maybe, I would have kept the baby ( I honestly don't know if I could give it up). But then again you made one very deserving mothers dreams come true, and at the time that was what you the mother thought was best.
Becoming a mother at sixteen is something most girls don't plan on, but weather they planned it or not it should be the mothers decision of what to do. Whatever decision you make needs to be the best decision for you. At the time it was carrying the baby to term, but even if you had gotten an abortion, or kept the baby, I don't believe anyone has the right to say what was the best decision for you.
I'm not sure it's my place to say there were better ways to avoid this whole situation. But there was. Like honestly, why the hell didn't you use a condom? At the time you didn't even like Bleeker that much. You were just bored. It was kinda lucky that you and Bleeker fell in love after all that and I'm sure things would be different if you hadn't gotten pregnant but still, where you really okay with conceiving a new life? Do you think Bleeker would still get together with you if you kept the baby? Or had an abortion?
I think the easiest way out of a pregnancy is abortion, and although I could never make that decision for myself and go through with it there are lots of women in America that make the decision to have them. Thank heavens that women have a right to privacy under the due process clause of the 14th amendment. Roe vs. Wade states that a person has a right to an abortion until viability. I personally agree with that but only to a certain extent. I mean to be honest I hate the whole idea of abortion and destroying potential life but I'd rather have abortions legal and safe than illegal and life threatening. I don't feel like I can speak for all the women of America because I don't know what they face every single day and what the have to deal with. I don't even know what I'd do in that situation. It's just great that we have the opportunity to choose. And whatever decision we make is the right one for us. For you it was to keep the baby and give it up for adoption. For your friend it was getting an abortion. And as for me I hope I never have to make that decision. We're just kids. I want to live it up before I have to grow up.
